INTRODUCTION

Chapter 2

Welcome to Hauge, through the eyes of a keen, interested observer.

Hague was different than the first chapter of Delft, be it a bigger city with countless things to get lost in, let alone the connection to the northern sea and its cold and strong winds. I was lost in my feelings and emotions while traversing the city, allowing for the senses to take a hold of the experience vs just my eyes. Resulting in fewer designs, but much more focused and worked on compositions.

Uncovering questions and dilemmas that perplexed me in these months that passed. Growing and pondering life on this here uncharted land, the discoveries, preserved arts and deep rooted history. I stopped looking so much on what is there, but much rather what do I see and feel that is there. I slowly took a peek behind some of my emotional questions that lingered unattained, slowly making their way to the surface.

From the many statues raised to the royal family's honour, to the modern and much more abstract structures about pain and pondering. I took note of it all, part of the designs of these pages are pure photographs that I took, collaged and broken apart in creating what my eyes arranged beauty in. Creating a trilogy of story in each designated drawing - one be it within the page itself, two with the drawing and lastly the writing with the music that ties the trilogy together.

Some of these pieces have been my favourite so far, one in particular that made me feel quite attached to it, quite rare to get in all my years of creating art. Be it not physically meant in "not being able to part with", but much rather emotionally feeling that it's something I should have done since a long time now, and only after so many decades did I finally get around in doing. I wish not to state the title of the piece in fear of altering your perception of it, but I hope you can feel the one that felt quite at heart to me as I tried to reflect it on the page itself.

"Thank you for taking the time to explore these chapters. The conclusive chapter of the Netherlands will be coming early September."

*Make sure to play the music for each piece for a complete experience.
