Veer - Our new course of perspective.
(Using our new language to describing our surroundings.)

As we adjust slowly to a more conscientious light, we see what our choices have truly done to the world around us; to ourselves. No longer are the waves simply waves, or is the ocean simply an ocean. We see our tarnished selves slowly shedding our worn chameleon’s skin. The society that we know will have need of us, not needs that are met by us, just as its infinite tendrils will ever be reaching toward us from the deep. Whether it wishes to again groom us into compliance, imitation or rebellion is of no consequence to it.

We must be something new. We must be ourselves, for our own sake. Every cycle we might subject ourselves to have the potential to waste vast amounts of that which is most precious to us: The time that we have.

Were the colors always like this? We think of the unmistakable attraction that “sea life” has had towards us. They wait for their meal, circling like vultures from below. The waves become almost scale-like, with countless eyes flickering in little snapshots of existence. Stalking, hoping, praying for our next fall; that the next wave that forms behind us will be the one that carries us under.
