DESCRIPTION/NOTES
Late Supper - my influence after the visit to Vermeer's museum

I took notice in Vermeer's notes, on how he added stories and concepts so delicately, by placing objects around his compositions in creating a duality within a what would seem, ordinary "staged" painting. His concepts appear to me to be a beckoning of the necessity of love and affection on his subjects. Vanity being the main protagonist in all of his depictions, something we, as the subjects could relate and observe with a childish wonder, behind the invisible veil he allowed us to peak from. Cloaking us behind this fine specimen of human mundaneness.
The drawing 'Late Supper" depicts an eerie effect of altruistic love, contradictive of course, in both for her vanity and to whom she will meet/feast tonight. We observe a severed head next to her, hollow but quite reluctantly sure of its fate, no signs of struggle nor fight. A serene look, for such barbaric act, who might this be? Beckons the question of an acute observer; for we are placed behind this invisible veil to take a peak through the aftermath of this late supper. To such sight, she pays no heed, for she has to pumper herself of what awaits, caught between an abnormality within the normality. Radiating egotism in accompanying her miraculous complacency in choosing her afternoon garments. Having her trusty mirror to be both her lover and comfort for the night; whispering sweet nothingness to one's feeble appearance. Whiles the room is dimly lit by the light peeping through the window, caressing the tiles on the floor, revealing a distant painting mounted on a wall. A late supper full of contradictions.
